Aluminium Angle
Buy Aluminium Angle at Aluminium Warehouse. We are the one-stop shop for all your metal applications. Our aluminium extrusions are readily available to order. They can be shipped straight to your door with fast dispatch. Compared to mild steel, aluminium is a lighter alternative.
Our angle is one of our most popular profile aluminium. Sold as either equal or unequal angle, the aluminium angle features in so many different types of fabrications. From frame building, caravan construction, shop fittings or simply a corner bracket. Depending which application you require, we have grades of aluminium alloy suitable for either architectural or structural purposes.
Not found what you're looking for? Other types of aluminium profile in our catalogue include square tubes, rectangular tubes, round tubes, channel, flat bar and round bar.

Can you paint aluminium angle?
Aluminium angle can be painted. The most popular method for DIYers is hand-painting, especially for garden furniture and home projects. To get the best results, it is important to clean the raw materials first to remove any grease. Allow it to dry completely before the first application. Latex or acrylic paints work best on this angle, choose an exterior paint if using outside.
If you have larger pieces of aluminium extruded angle and/or greater quantities, it can be more cost-effective and time-saving to powder coat them. This will also provide a consistent and more even application of colour as well as another solid layer of protection. We do not recommend making cuts to powder coated material. Cut your material before-hand.
Why is aluminium strong?
In comparison to stainless steel or iron, aluminium is approximately 3 x lighter but can display excellent strength and flexibility. It is this strength / weight ratio and low density that make it a valuable material in so many metal fabrications. Generally speaking, stainless steel and iron are both stronger raw materials but their weight is less desirable for certain applications. Similar to cold roll steel, the strength of aluminium can also increase in colder environments.
It is important to understand that aluminium alloy is not the same as pure aluminium. In its very natural form, aluminium is soft and malleable. Commercialisation of aluminium alloys began in the 20th century to impart desirable physical features, primarily strength in its various forms.
Aluminium has a naturally reactive chemical make-up. Combining aluminium with other elements such as such as silicon, magnesium, zinc, or copper, enhances its' overall properties. Standardisation of these combinations came known in the industry as alloy grades.
At Aluminium Warehouse we stock a wealth of alloy grades to meet the demands of your application. More technical information about alloy grades can be found here.
How to bend aluminium?
Bending aluminium is not always advisable without seeking further technical advice, as it can reduce the strength of the material. However, if it's for aesthetic reasons or strength is not a top priority, then it is possible to bend some aluminium alloys using a range of methods such as; roller bending, press bending, draw bending and stretch bending.
Please be aware, not all aluminium alloys will respond well to being bent and could break as a result. The 2011 and 6082 series are best avoided as they are so strong they do not form as easily. As a rule of thumb, the higher the strength of alloy, the more difficult to bend.
Getting the right alloy is equally as important as getting the right temper. When comparing alloys and tempers, lean toward those with the largest range between yield and tensile strength, because this indicates better forming ability.
How to join aluminium?
Joining aluminium can be accomplished in several ways depending on what outcome you're hoping to achieve. Mechanical fasteners, welding, bonding, brazing and soldering are the most common methods. Each technique has its' own cost attached to it, as well as the strength of the join.
Rivets, bolts and nuts are the cheapest option. Riveting aluminium panels is common place on airplanes. If using this technique, it's important to consider to what effect these fasteners will have on the material over time. Corrosion is a top consideration.
Super glue, epoxy and silicone can all bond aluminium, but surface preparation is critical to this process as the oxide layer can cause an adhesive failure.
Brazing and soldering is also achievable but may require some additional research. How will the brazing alloys react with the aluminium alloy when heated? High magnesium aluminium alloys dislike fluxes, depressing the melting temperature and create a weaker joint. The brazing alloys need to have a lower melting point to the aluminium alloy. How much the join is overlapped can also affect the strength of the joint.
There are various welding techniques. Knowledge about welding parameters is essential as a positive polarity is needed to break the oxide layer to ensure a proper weld. For a high weld strength, friction welding is a joining process developed for both wrought and extruded aluminium.
