When you choose bright polished aluminium, the visual aesthetic of the material is often just as important as the aluminium itself. Bright polished aluminium angle is commonly used for decorative purposes in architectural fabrications. The shiny reflective surface offers a desirable finish and can be found in corner guards, worktop or bathroom trims, facades and even roof edges.
At Aluminium Warehouse we strive to give you the best possible service, which is why we use a plastic sleeve or film on our bright polished extrusions to protect them. We will also package your order thoroughly to ensure it arrives in top condition once it's been transported.
What is polished aluminium?
We take extra care to only accept quality material here at Aluminium Warehouse. However, aluminium is a soft metal and all standard mill finish profiles can display minor scratches, small defects and extrusions lines. If your aluminium project uses aluminium visually, then we highly recommend you choose a bright polished profile instead.
All of our bright polished aluminium angle goes through a mechanical polishing process. Mechanical polishing is the use of physical tools to enhance the appearance of the surface. There are three steps in this process; first grinding, then polishing and finally buffing. Once complete, any roughness is significantly reduced and then smoothed.
Brushed aluminium vs polished aluminium
There are some obvious visual differences between brushed aluminium and polished aluminium, but also a huge difference in the way that these finishes are carried out.
Firstly, polishing aluminium can be done with one of two methods. Chemical polishing and mechanical polishing. Chemical polishing is an advanced finishing method. It can remove scratches and even slight mould from the surface of the aluminium profile. It can also correct and remove friction bands, anodised film layers and thermal deformation layers that may have been formed from mechanical polishing. After chemical polishing, the work-piece has a highly reflective mirror-like finish.
Of the two methods it is however, the most expensive.
Mechanical polishing, uses physical tools to grind, polish then buff. It improves and smooths the surface finish from the previous mill finish.
Brushed aluminium displays a textured pattern all over the surface for a professional and smooth appearance. It is a great method to remove any defects even weld joins, and is often chosen for its lasting visual impact. The brushed effect is created using grit belts with a sanding technique. The belts remove small aluminium particles and leave the aluminium with an even shiny finish. If needed, this can be later buffed to enhance the shine.
